Light Continuous Rules
The rules for Light Continuous are based on Full Contact Kickboxing style but with the emphasis being on Controlled technique. Bouts will be judged between the referee and an independent judge at ringside and in the case of title fights between three independent scoring judges. The judges will score on a 10 point must system on their overall impression of the rounds taking all the following criteria into account.
1: Effective and controlled technique with a good ratio of punches to kicks scoring cleanly to the target area. All kicks above the waist, Standing footsweep (inside and outside) boot to boot and No back fists, ridge hand strikes or spinning back fists will be allowed.
2: Defence, Movement and Ring craft with defensive skills will score as highly as techniques on the offence.
3. Work rate and Physical condition of the fighters during and after the contest.
4: Any point deductions made by the referee (see below)
Point deductions
1: Excess power or illegal technique.
2: Unsportsmanlike conduct from either the fighter or the fighters cornermen and coaches.
3: Turning of the back or showing an unwillingness to fight.
4: The referee has the authority to disqualify a fighter at his discretion before or after any warnings are issued.
Attire and Compulsory Protection
All competitors must wear Head Guards In the interests of safety, all headguards must now provide protection to the top of the head in the form of Top 10 or standard PU style headguards. Boxing headguards with strung fastening to the top will not be allowed., Boxing Gloves (10oz min), Shin Pads, Foot Pads (Covering both the heel and the toes of the foot), Groin Guard and Gum Shield. By 2009 we would also like to enforce female chest guards to protect against long term ill-effect. In the interim period the use of chest guards will be voluntary but highly recommended.
The fighter must be dressed in a clean and appropriate club uniform.
Fight Duration
ALL fights will now be of 3 x 1 minute duration with the exception of title fights and adults wishing to fight 3x 1.5minute rounds which must be stipulated prior to the days proceedings.
Area title fights - 5 x 1 minute rounds
English title fights - 5 x 1.5 minute rounds
British title fights - 5 x 2 minute rounds
