Fighters and Coaches
The B.L.C.C aim to have the very best fighters in each weight division holding it's titles.
As well as us scouting looking for potential title challengers on the Light Continuous circuit it is also possible for a fighter to be nominated for a title fight by their coach or instructor.
All prospective title fights will be vetted to insure both participants are worthy challengers by the B.L.C.C.
The guide line in regard to experience needed to challenge for a particular title is as follows. This is not set in stone and may vary if a fighter has competitive experience in other forms of competition i.e: mats, thai boxing or full contact.
Over 8 fights - Area Title
Over 12 fights - English Title
Over 15 fights - British Title
Area title fights are contested over 5 x 1 minute round with a 1 minute rest.
English National title fights are contested over 5 x 1 1/2 minute rounds with a 1 minute rest in between rounds.
British title fights are contested over 5 x 2 minute rounds with a 1 minute rest in between rounds.
Any one fighter can only hold Area and English titles once but may fight for British titles in different age and weight categories.
If a fighter moves up in either age or weight and the next divisions title is vacant he or she will automatically be installed as the champion at that age and weight.
The aim is for a junior fighter to have contested and won Area, English and British title belts by the time he or she are ready to compete in the seniors.
To add credibility we also encourage a fighter to make defences of his / her title although we understand this sometimes to be difficult due to the fact that they may outgrow their weight and age class.
All challenges and rematch requests should be done through the B.L.C.C. via e-mail.
Promoters
Promoters wishing to feature B.L.C.C title fights on their shows must be responsible for the fighters safety and well being above of everything else and sufficient medical supervision should be in place.
Although the B.L.C.C do not insist that you use our officials, judges and referee's they are available on request should you need them.
What we do insist however is that the B.L.C.C rules and regulations are used and in place with the title fights and that all officials and referee's used are Qualified and fully aware of the B.L.C.C rules and criteria for scoring.
The promoter will be responsible for the cost of the belt which is available at cost price from the BLCC.
Should a Champion lose his / her title in a defence they will keep the original belt that they won but for show will allow the belt to be awarded to the new Champion on the night in the ring. The promoter will then be responsible for purchasing a new title belt and awarding it to the new Champion at a later date.
BLCC Event Promotion
Launched in January 2007, the BLCC has rapidly evolved into a nationally recognized and highly reputable organization endorsed and supported by many of the UK’s top clubs. Looking to the future, we are keen to expand the length and breadth of the UK encompassing events hosted in the North of England, the South West, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
If you’d like to host a BLCC sanctioned event please contact David Whitfield or your Regional Director (Dale Wood for the North / Colin Payne for the South).
We will provide you with full support including marketing and distribution of invitations, the provision of officials, help with creating matches and even recommending suppliers for trophies, medical staff, insurance cover etc. The BLCC is a non-profit making organization and at present there are no fees associated with sanctioning events although a nominal fee may be introduced later this year to help fund title belts etc. This will however be a nominal, manageable fee offset against revenue.
To participate, all we ask is that you commit to attending at least 5 BLCC sanctioned events to familiarize yourself with our operational process and then agree to comply with the guidelines laid down by the management team which will ensure consistent quality and integrity.
Discrepancy's and Appeal process
Obviously from time to time using different officials to judge bouts there could be a situation where there may be discrepancies in decisions ect. If you feel this has been the case a formal complaint from the fighters coach / instructor must be issued within 7 days of the contest in writing explaining exactly what they feel has been the problem and also supply a video or dvd recording of the fight in order for it to be viewed and ruled on by three independent B.L.C.C. Technical Directors. The Technical Directors may after the viewing decide to have the decision stand, reverse the decision, order a rematch depending on their findings, or rule the contest a no decision. The panel of Technical Directors decision will be final.
